Toulouse Geese Thread

Miss Lydia...if I did not know that your name is not your handle I would sincerely apologize. I just hope that next mating season I will have pictures of beautiful little goslings to share. May have to name one of them Brazil. Oh no, now I have that tune stuck in my head...Brazil, where hearts were entertaining June, we stood beneath an amber moon.....

No, my Miss Lydia will always be the one and only. Brazil would be a nice name for one of her goslings and Paulo if there is a gander in the hatch...now I am all excited about little goslings running around and it is probably at least 6-8 months before anything like that might happen. Patience has never been one of my virtues.

Seems like there´s another name in there...June. Oh, and Amber....And if there´s a Paulo, there´d have to be a Rio!

Patience now that's another good name.

STOP...That is six names. I don't want to overburden my little girl on her first hatch...and it will be so long away.

Do geese hatch 6 or 7 goslings at once like chickens and ducks?

She'll sit as many as you let her.
Any idea what the percentage hatched is. One out of ten, 50/50... Oh, and I am going to try my hand at building my own small incubator and see if any of the Andalusian hens eggs hatch. Little Dude is Andalusian and they are the only breed I have that lay white eggs so, if any of them are fertile I would know they are pure Andalusian chicks. I will try with only 4-6 eggs to start. We shall see.

Mine lay from 3 to 10, then sit. Average is 6 or 7.
Last year I got 100% hatch with one goose, and about 50%+ with others, Previously, it´s been between 50 and 100%. That´s with the goose, not in an incubator. Incubator eggs are more tricky.

there are way too many variables to consider to give you an appropriate hatch rate estimate.
The feed they get, how good of a mom she will be, etc. They could all hatch out or none hatch out.
