Toulouse Geese Thread

hi all I just got 5 Toulouse geese last night. 2 Ganders and 3 Geese. I had one Roman Tuft Goose already that grew up with my ducks. We have a huge run for them with kiddie pools and my husband is making them a pond. I have my ducks and my geese and a few egg laying chickens in this run but soon I will be turning some of the ducks, my geese and my egg laying mixed flock out with all my livestock.

I am very excited about getting these Toulouse geese but have a few questions if you could help me please.

they are 5 months old when should I expect them to start to lay?

is there any risk of having them with my other fowl?

do they need anything special diet wise? (I feed fermented feed of grower, COBB, and BOSS)

any help you have would be appreciated. thank you in advance.

Congrats on your new geese, I have 2 Toulouse and no way could they be penned up with my chickens or ducks they would pick on them unmercifully. They have a half acre and they still pick on everyone else. [if they get close enough. ] My goose laid her first egg at 9 months old she was born in April and laid the following Jan. Diet - mine eat FF not sure what COBB is though, mine get a mixture of Flock Riser, wheat. whole oats, and scratch. with split peas mixed in. But greens are their favorite, grass short, thin blade, and romaine lettuce are 2 favorites. Post pics when you can.

Mine were raised with Turkeys and ducks and a few chickens. I saw a few bites at the other birds but nothing real aggressive. so my FF is grower and COB ( Corn, Oats and Barley) and BOSS (Black Oil Sunflower Seeds). I will keep an eye on them then and hope they get along ok since I want to free range them together.

one of the females has what appears to be an angel wing but not sure. should I add peas to my feed?

Welcome to the wonderful world of the Toulouse Goose. You are really in for a treat. They are wonderful birds with calm personalities and very regal natures. I have three, a gander and two geese who are quite the bunch. I started out with them mixed with my chickens and ducks but as they grew (about 8-10 weeks) they began to demonstrate that they really needed a place of their own so they have their own coop and run and have access to about two acres of range. Mine get a mix of Flock Raiser, scratch and corn plus all the grass they can eat. Their favorite treats are Romaine and Water Mellon.

You could try to wrap but at the age she is it may not do much but I'd still try. niacin is good for leg and neurological problems but haven't heard of using it to treat angel wing.
after you try wrapping for about a week and you may not notice much change you can trim the feathers so they don't catch on things or drag on the ground. I would still wrap though.
They are beautiful. My flock do pretty good in a free range setting as long as the ducks and chickens stay in their proper place. Which they learn to do pretty quick. Mine have all been raised in a multi flock.

Hi everyone I am looking for someone interested in my pilgram geese. I don't want to get rid of them but need to due to family reasons. They are all show quality and I have the ribbons and plaques to prove it. Also they are proven breeders a great mothers. I am planning on going to ohio nationals this November and can meet up with someone there. If I don't sell them before then or they will have to be sent to slaughter.. They are a great breed and have many uses. Anyone interested??? Do you think I'll be able to get rid of them at Nationas otherwise??

Where are you located? There is a member looking for some geese she is in Nashville TN. How many geese you talking about? Have you listed on the Buy Sell trade thread?
