Toulouse Geese Thread

Thank you !!! They are the loves of my life. I always wanted geese , adored the Canadians on the pond but these two are just so special and loving. They are my first geese and I'm learning so much but so much more to learn .
They have different voices and different personalities
But as I said , they both did the bum to the sky thing in the pool soooo ???? I don't know

We have had our scares. Last summer I noticed the one most loving goose was eating funny , tipping its head and not biting the treats or grazing. Off to the vet we go . He examines her and when he opens her mouth there on her tongue was a high tensil spring !!!!
She had stuck her tongue through the spring and it was now swollen inside the coils . Emergency surgery, antibiotics and daily/nightly flushing - she's now a perfect goose again , no damage but Whew!!!!
We're moving to a small farm soon and I am so afraid that I'll lose one or both . I have a plan and I think it's a safe plan . They are just so precious and innocent.
Maybe we can learn together in this community

Gee, too bad you aren't close to me as I'm sure my boys would love to meet your girls!!

I'm so glad you were attentive when your goose had the spring around her tongue-that must have been very frightening! One of my ganders went through a six month bout of lead poisoning-we still aren't sure how or why, but he was one sick bird. Thank you to Miss Lydia for helping us through that time plus two veterinarians.

On your move: just make sure that your geese have an enclosed area until they are used to their new home. I know you'll take every precaution to keep them safe :) They are truly beautiful! I'm not sure about the bum thing either, but neither of my ganders do that although they both love water.

Thank you everyone for the compliments

We're off to the vet Monday . My Peeper has a skinned toe that just doesn't seem to be getting better. Tried vetrycin spray . It hurts and she holds her foot and has started limping slightly. :( best to get it checked , also the same one that had the spring on its tongue .
Well let you know outcome ,

How do I post a video ?
I went to Viemo and did mine so much easier than You tube for me any way since I am computer dumb. If you've already done that then go to where you see the emicon on your post page count 4 over to the left and click you can put it there or I just copied the link and posted it here. That is the best i can do for you. If that doesn't help I'll find you info on BYC I know it's here.

Miss Lydia,
Please take a look and tell me what you think

Great videos. I'd say you need a gander if you want goslings. lol They both act like females to me. Don't you love it when they get all nutty in the water, that was so cute.

If you don't want goslings then don't get a gander. Or buy fertile eggs. lol I love my gander but boy is he a handful right now.

. I don't necessarily need goslings but I think it would be good for them to feel safe and have a protector . They have both started coming to me and squatting , wanting to be petted and stroked . Poor things I feel like I'm letting them down , so to speak lol.
How would I add a gander . What if they don't like him.
I don't like every guy that I meet - ummm quite the opposite now that I'm thinking about it !!!

LOL well first of all you set up a date.. Nope just kidding. Well you find a gander bring him home put him in a fenced area where they can all meet but he isn't being too obnoxious right off, actually my gander always waits for a Que from his mate before he mates with her ganders are usually gentlemen about the mating. Putting them in separate fenced areas for a few days to a week usually helps so they can meet and greet and gives the gander or goose a chance to get familiar with their new home. You sure don't want him leaving your property and the girls following him off. I bet they will fall in love pretty quick. It just takes the right fellow.
