Can someone please tell me why my Dewlap Toulouse goose alwase looks like crap when she gets wet? normally goose feathers repel water but hers dont look like they do. Any advice?

Thats interesting, I have a couple of Muscovy ducks that get that way towards end of summer up until molt. they don't repel water at all. Do you see her preening? she may not be spreading the wax on her feathers very well. have you looked at her oil gland?

Wow, I hadn't heard of "wet feather". Learned something new today!

Thanks, I do see her preen all the time with the sebastopols, I will have to check out her oil gland and see what I find. Thanks for the link!

Thanks Celtic, She is 2012 hatch and I dont remember if she molted or not? I will read into it and see what I find.
 
Well looks like our girl Missy is getting ready to lay her first ever egg today, I found her inside the little coop in a nest.. I hope she does good.
