Thanks RURU, it was very stressful for me I'm sure it was for her being her first one.Congrads Miss Lydia on your first goose egg!!!!!![]()
I was wondering if that was it Celtic, but she had me worried. I feel better now thanks. I just kept thinking about haunted and her Toulouse having egg laying trouble.Lydia the laying on the bedding is just playing house for her. she will do it often and for no reason other than she can
Celtic, this made me laugh! My Lucy Loo is back out with her flock and she is back to yelling at anyone that goes near her corner. Tomorrow, she and all my other girls should have their nesting boxes put in. The frames are already done, now just putting them in is left.Lydia the laying on the bedding is just playing house for her. she will do it often and for no reason other than she can
It is very cool H, I saw where Missy had either rolled or carried a duck egg and a chicken egg into the walk way of the duck house. I don't know what she planned on doing with them but she then went and got into the little coop where i guess she felt she had more privacy and laid her egg. Please share your nest boxes with us when finished. you know how i love pics.Celtic, this made me laugh! Miss L, she is so right. Lucy so wants to be a momma that she is taking any eggs she can get and setting them. I watched her today carry a pekin egg, from the other room of their house, to her 'nest'. I was totally amazed she could do it! Enjoy Miss Lydia, this is an amazing thing we are seeing! I may be new but this is just so cool!
Yeeeessss, feed the picture habit. LOL!!!! I will. I've still got some figuring to do on the corner but it shouldn't be too much of a job. Then my little SAs and KCs can go on top in the brooder that will be over the nesting boxes. They should like it and it will give everyone else something new to think about. It is very cool H, I saw where Missy had either rolled or carried a duck egg and a chicken egg into the walk way of the duck house. I don't have a nesting box actually for my goose or my ducks, I just give them lots of shavings in their stalls for deep digging and laying, now Haunted 55 is actually building nest boxes for her geese so hopefully she'll be posting pics soon. A nice quiet place where she can get away from everyone seems to help. And you want it to be in a secure building so you can lock her up at night safe from preds. Congrats on your new geese they are awesome. Stanley may have a change of attitude once he bonds with your goose, they get very protective during mating season, so if you do notice a change just realize it will pass when mating is over.Hi there everyone
I just got a buff Toulouse 3 year old gander and a grey 1 year old Toulouse hen (is that the right word?) yesterday. So excited! Stanley the gander is very habituated to humans and followed me everywhere today when I was outside honking loudly at me and nibbling my jeans or my gloves LOLThe hen is very shy at the moment so we will see how they settle into the flock.![]()
So I am on a steep learning curve - Question please. How big a nesting box would be good for them? Same size as for a turkey or ...? I know this is premature but I am getting ready for lots of chicken, turkey and goose babies this spring/ summer if possible!
thanks for any replies!
