I find incredibly ironic that they will fine Toyota, but never did Ford, GM, Chevy, etc. for all their lemons out there that have actually caused deaths. Bozos. Not that they don't deserve it, but shouldn't EVERYONE that does this stuff be fined?
the reasoning for the fine is they knew there was a problem ahead of time and didn't report it for 4 months after the first confirmation of an issue. GM/ford were up front and quick with the recall actions. I'd post a link but its from Fox and CNN and I don't want to be accused of reading biased journalism
yup but its the max fine per incident... just like it's only a 1.4 million fine for dumping toxic chemicals into the waterways and oceans. If caught ...... its cheaper to pay the fines if caught because each dumping saves 40+ million.

Actually, Ford covered up that firestone tire thing for YEARS!! They were having those problems LONG before everyone started complaining about it. Ask me, I know.
