well i ordered a ex pen for my old dog for the river - she's not much of a river dog, so she gets to kick it up by the tent in the shade. so when i'm not using for the dogs I set it up for the chickens. it only holds about two chickens comfortably. No perches or anything since it's only a day thing. Made a cool little waterer out of a milk jug & bungee'd the jug tothe corner of the pen. also put a little bowl of laying pellet & scratch to keep the girls happy.
I used this cool tarp/shade thing that i got for my dogs, it reflects the suns's heat but it's woven so it promotes airflow. it's really cool!! also threw a piece of lightweight wood for more intense shade.
