Asian Blacks are a new type of chicken being bred for both meat and egg production. These are beautiful birds that appear black or black with red at first glance. But then as the light hits them, their feathers flash in a brilliant blue and green sheen. They have greenish-gray legs and feet. Combs and wattles are red.

Privett is a great hatchery (they are revamping their website it looks like) Asian blacks or Asian blues are both newer breeds. Barred rocks are very cool too, and beautiful when they're bigger. Congrats of your first chickens! Exciting.

Well I know they didn't do it unintentionally because it was on a sign in two of my local stores so I'm not sure I can't find info anywhere and really want to

The signs in the stores match up with the breeds listed on the boxes of chicks that come from the hatcheries, so the sign will be correct

OPs chicks, check the one in the middle. am I seeing red ? My eyes are not that great. I know there isnt a white spot.could it be possible he has both ?

My store had signs on the cage that WERE not what the box from the hatchery said.

I see some red/orange but it is so hard to tell colors from a picture...cameras/lighting differ and can be tricky.

Yes I absolutely did...AND I took pictures of them.

And just to prove my point again...I will go back to the store tomorrow..( I know they receive their shipments on Thursdays) and take picture AGAIn.
