Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Folks, you do not have to buy in bunches of 6 in the store, you have to have 6 chicks MINIMUM. I went in 2 weeks ago and came home with 4 white Leghorn bantams, and an EE and Cochin bantam (6 chicks, 3 different breeds). Today I brought home 4 porcelain D'Uccles, 2 OEGB and 2 golden Seabrights (I think, I'm not sure positive that's what they are, but that's 8 chicks, 3 different breeds).
Its been the same everytime I've bought chicks from TSC. I have no idea how they handle the whole mail order thing, as I've never gone that route. But, if you're okay with the 25 or 15 chick minimum, I would think it would make more sense to just order them from the hatchery yourself. By the way, most hatcheries lower the minimum number of chicks you can order after April, if you're willing to wait a little longer. And for those complaining about that 6 chick minimum, there are several hatcheries, Mypetchicken for example, that offer 3 and 5 chick minimums. They ship them with a heat pack, and I've noticed the less you order, the more you pay for shipping. Anyway, good luck, I hope everyone finds what they're looking for!

I lost one of My pretty little leghorns; She was the smallest in the group. I buried Her in the Flower Garden. All her "Sisters" are still doing okay. One keeps picking and pulling at the others wings. Several older Folks says it maybe a Roo so I marked it's foot with a marker to see. It's always on the move so I named it Popcorn.

I figured it was a good name for what ever "it' turns out to be .

Today I bought 10 Cornish Rocks from TSC. They are very active, and are very large even tough they are only 2 days old! The worker who got them from me actually knew a little on chickens (that's a surprise).

You can go and special order them from them that's what I did.

Shipping is free

They arrive at your post office and you pick them up

You pick the breads you want

It's easy!

Got some Buff Orpingtons today...at Southern States! lol. They didn't have RIRs this year. They had Buffs in! I was so excited. We now have 12 buffs and 6 SLWs. :) I think the Buffs were straight run. Nothing specified what gender they were. So, no longer having a dilemma with TSC getting them in haha

The two TSC's close to my house have a very limited assortment. So glad that the Rural King opened in Leesburg! I've gone two times and brought home an Ancona, Blue Andalusian, Buff Cochin, Buff Brahma, Silver Laced Wyandotte, Black Australorp, Lakenvelder, Buff Orpington, Amerucana and Silkie. They also has Sicilian Buttercups and Silver Seabrights, but I have more than enough now...

I believe what the original poster of the 6 chick issue was talking about is that the TSC where she shops misinterprets the 6 chick minimum and makes people buy ingroups of 6. She was not saying that was what she thought!

Our area TS stores (Conroe, Tomball and Magnolia) have mainly done CX and some ducks this year. The other feed stores have had a lot more dual purpose varieties BR, RIR, EE, BO. Both the TS and the area feed stores order from Ideal since it is closely and the chicks are only shipped ground to get here. The feed stores are more knowledgeable and experienced and willing to share advise.

After dealing with the mass stupidity of Tractor Supply and the local feed stores, I decided to just pony up and place an order with McMurray. Since She Who Must Be Obeyed gave the ok, I ended placing an order for 15 various babies.

My Sister just called TSC in PIKEVILLE,KY the Guy told Her that They told Mt. Healthy to send 150 of each Breed and to send 4-5 different breeds. He said They are excepting Them Tomorrow;but due to the Winter Storm due tonight 1-4 inches of Snow and Ice . They may not come to call (606)433-0890 about 12:30. He also said "IF" They get Them more than likely They will all be gone by 3:00 the same day.
