Tractor Supply Chicks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never gotten chicks from TSC. What is the success rate that the pullets end up actually being pullets?
I got all girls last year, but I didn't get all RIR from the bin labeled as such.

I saw a funny at my local TSC last time I was there about a month ago, they had sex links straight run. I was like well if I knew what was what I would buy all pullets, just point and tell the clerk 3rd from the left, etc. etc. etc...
If the production red verity, I think you want the reddish tinted chicks and avoid the whiter ones. If the black chicks, I think solid black are the girls and the ones with the dot on their head is the boys.

Very disappointed so far with tsc up here in CT this year, the selection is lame I have 5 of them all within a 30min and all they have is the same thing every week with an occasional rare breed mixed in.So far it's been red pullets, golden comets, white leghorn, Cornish rock, barred rock, and assorted bantams, this week they had jersey giants but that's all and on top of it the employees are illiterate half of them can't pronounce the names and the rest either don't know what they have or if there strait run or pullets,I called one day and asked what they had and the person told me they had beardrocks are you kidding me!! They need serious training.

Brand new to chicks so really didn't know what to look for at TSC. We wound up with 5 bantams ( don't know what kind - 3 are blackish and 2 are yellow). We also bought 5 red production and 3 light brahma. Have a few with pasty butt but other than that all are doing well.

Just to clarify I bought two barred rocks from TSS they have a white defined spot on the head are they Roos or hens?

the white head spot on barred rocks isn't a complete tell. Both cockrels and pullets have it. Generally the pullet has a more defined spot while the cockrel has a more shapeless spot.

also if the barred rocks have white spots that means their hens right?

Barred rocks have white spot on their head both sexes have it and the bantam could be a silkie hard to see.

You cannot go by the spot though especially with hatchery chicks because the quality is not the best or the same as a breeders, there are other features to look at like the leg wash color, you should see a lighter yellowish color on males and a darker charcoal wash on females but even that's not 100% accurate.
