Even though some may indeed be better than others, it still sounds like none of them hold the number of birds advertised and all of them require additional work. Dogs are absolutely the worst land-based predator there is. They kill birds just for the fun of it and you definitely want something that they cannot break into, and having a perimeter to keep them away in the first place is a good idea. What dogs don't physically kill, they panic and cause to die, at any rate it's the same result...dead birds. I know that there are many wonderful, noble dogs out there but I'm honestly not fond of the species in general.

After literally 15 years of telling people I would update the shanty coop I built as a "temporary" solution, I broke down and got this coop:

True: most ready made coops are not optimised and lack ventilation.

The soffit is the underside of a roof overhang.
Best place for weather protected ventilation.

I bought a small coop for my rabbit one time from TSC. (I’ll try to find a link to it and will edit it in) It was small, so my rabbit was the only thing small enough to fit in there comfortably with a little extra room. Anyways, 2 years later it fell apart Quality is terrible for the price & what you get.

Ya, I've heard the ones from China that get resold by a lot of places (even costco) are junk.

A screen will not keep any predator out and I’m concerned that there is hardly any ventilation or cross breeze in that coop. I think you’re going to need a saw...
