Tractor Supply Co Sexing - Accurate?

Pics
That sure isn't someone working at one of the big hatcheries. I've been to a couple in Missouri and it was nothing like that. They sex 1,000s a day and it is so fast idk how they get the accuracy they do.
Years ago they also had it on an episode of "dirty jobs" maybe theirs a clip from that show still out there.
I had a different video posted but pulled it down from thinking it was not very FAMILY FRIENDLY. They were doing stuff so fast they were dumping chicks out our big pails into mounds like they were stuffed dolls. Chicks all over the floor stepped on and such. I will leave it at that. As well as I am sure they are all NOT like that.
OMG is was disgusting. That is one reason I buy straight runs.. Less stress on the little dudes.:)

If they're all like that, I definitely don't support it, but if I end up with cockerel's, they'd probably be put into someone's stew pot, anyways. :( I can't keep any more cockerel's; I already have 3 more than I wanted.

Oh, also - mine seems to be run very well. The employee's are pretty knowledge, and I asked a man if they were vaccinated and he said no. They were shipped as soon as they were hatched, so the chicks are about 4 days old. They didn't have medicated feed, so I have unmedicated - is this going to hurt them in the long run? It's 20% DuMOR Starter.
It's personal choice as far as medicated/unmedicated feed goes if they are not vaccinated.
I went with the recommendation of someone who has raised a lot of chicks but many have had success either way.
Wishing you a wonderful experience with your (hopefully all) girls!

I use medicated for the first month..

Thanks, hoping for all girls, too!! But who knows, since they already got the breed wrong! They'll probably all be boys. :hit You think I could teach a rooster to lay an egg? :lau

Hello! :) Yet another question from me.:p
I'm going to be picking up some chicks from TSC tomorrow morning, and was just wondering how your experiences were with their chicks. I bought 8 RIR's a while back, told they were all pullets, and ended up with 3 cockerel's (hence the reason for trying to get some more pullets).
Is this a regular occurrence, or have you all had better luck? Would love to hear some other people's experiences! :)

(Sorry if this is in the wrong forum section - was not 100% sure where was best to ask this!)
Not a good experience with TSC. Had a sign on bin saying Rock Cornish chickens. They turned out to be Cornish X. This was my first time buying chickens, bought my coop, feed, everything. I have never been back. I use my local feed store because they all raise chickens and know the many breeds (though I've had a coupla mistakes with them it has never been to that extreme), plus my local feed store will give me my money back if the "pullet" is actually a cockerel or they sold me the wrong breed.

Same thing just happened to me. Wanted a nice, docile breed (according to them), and they had Sicilian Buttercups in - they're not Sicilian Buttercups, and I'm not sure what they are. But the Australorp's seem to be Australorp's, and as long as they're all female, it's not too big of a deal for me. They're probably a hybrid or production breed.

I don't have any local feed store other than chain stores. :(

Pictures!! :wee

Sorry for the bad quality - I don't think they wanted me taking pictures of the chicks by the way they were looking at me. :lau:oops: I'm sure I'll be taking many more pics of the 10 I got. :p

Anyone have any info/experience with Australorp's and Sicilian Buttercup's? What should I expect from them? I needed more pullets, and didn't want 10 of the same kind, or any more RIR's, so I got 5 of each pullet they had aside from RIR's. I was hoping for EE's, but they didn't have any.

Look what I found for Cornish Rocks:
Egg Facts:
Egg Laying: Poor (1/wk)
Egg Color: Light Brown
Egg Size: Small
