Do TJ's and WF's eggs have a higher hen to roo ration? seems like a lot of people who hatch them get a good amount of hens and a few roos.

We have joined in the ranks of the TJ Egg Hatching (or trying to hatch) egg club. On a whim I picked up some fertile eggs from TJ's when down in Los Angeles visiting family. The packaged date is a bit older than I'd had preferred but we can always try again, and we built bigger brooder this morning "just in case".

Hey guys, puny seventh grader here! I am new but. . . .I am joining the Fertile egg from TJ's club! Woohoo!

They probably won't hatch, but I am crossing my fingers But yeah! We don't even have a proper incubator and don't want to spend the money on one, so we are building one out of a cardboard box. Hope it works! Yey for chickies! Too many exclamation points.

The eggs are three days old today, and we'll finish the incubator tonight. I think we have everything we need.

Will do! Right now we are still trying to get the temperature right. According to one calculator, 99 degrees Farenheit is 37.2 degrees Celsius. Since we only have a celsius thermometer, that is what we are going to use. It was at 40 degrees when I checked about 5 minutes ago. Now we have to go down 2-3 degrees! But this is all possible thanks to my mum. So go mummy!

Unfortunately our eggs would fry, since it nearly burnt a hole in a handtowel. Thank God I didn't put the eggs in! Bye bye cardboard box incubator. Mum is going to look at a few homemade incubators and see if she'll let me make one. Let us hope those work!

Nice incubator! I am guessing thats the bottom half.
I have decided to retry my cardboard box incubator with a lamp on the top, instead of just a lightbulb. First mum has to check if it's safe and won't blow up the house. Here we go again! I am kind of worried that I'll not do it right or that I'll be at school and Mum'll be at work while they hatch!

If this doesn't work, then I'll go buy some chicks.
