Darn it! I almost dropped them while turning them every day- I felt like a total butterfingers. OH well... 11 still going... - You can candle tomorrow night?

LOL, I don't think I'll see much tomorrow, it'll only be 2 days, but I'll candle on Sunday, which is day 3, and hopefully it'll all be good. Good news is that the egg was indeed fertile :) Or maybe that's bad news, LOL, if I only have a certain percent that are fertile.... oops! Hopefully they all will be fertile??

UGH! 5 hours in and I broke one! I dropped the thermostat on 'em and one broke

I can't help but think of the song, 100 bottles of beer on the wall....

12 eggs in the incubator
12 eggs in the 'bator

Yep, broken eggs happen. That's how I ended up with my TJ chick.... I broke an egg after submitting an egg count to the hatching contest and had to find a filler FAST! The nearby TJ's was quite handy and I'm happy to say the lone white chick that hatched out is now happily laying her heart out.

I think if you took a poll you'd find out that you're in good and numerous company.

Peep-Show- that is so cool- your ONE TJ chick was a girl and is now laying her heart out!

Good Luck Alex the Chicken!! It's soooo much fun!

Debs Flock- those are some adorable little fluff balls!!

I just collected two more eggs from the nest- and was thinking ...hmmm. I saw the rooster up close and personal with the leghorns... in a few weeks I could set a SECOND GENERATION Trader Joes hatch... oh no... somebody stop me!! I don't have room for any more chickens right now- but oh so tempting. The rooster is an Ameraucana.

Yaaay, alexthechicken, we'll be hatching together!

Awwww, debs-flock, I almost forgot how adorable they were when they first hatched! My first batch are already 4.5 weeks old! So sweet though! We play with and handle them every day because we want friendly chickens :)

you know chick4chix, the more I learn about each breed the more breeds I want! LOL. I saw someone's gorgeous Americana Roo, just made me salvate!

He was blue red, I dunno, so many gorgeous colors! But I'm already contemplating adding some Sultans to my future Seramas, LOL, what a mess! Only so much space you know?

My Amreraucana rooster came out of a bin at my local feedbarn that were supposed to be sexed pullets. When hatching my TJ chicks- I knew I would get roughly a 50%/50% ratio- and had someone set up to take the roos. When buying the sexed pullets I wasn't expecting to end up with two more roos out of the twelve I purchased. Luckily someone wanted "little Red" formerly known as Nutmeg (RIR) and I was able to keep Rooster Cogburn (formerly known as Babbette).

NOW I'm so excited at the prospect of a possible broody hen- to slip some of his genetics into the breeds I have- or if no broodies arise- my incubator! My breeds are:
White leghorn-Black Australorp- Cinnamon Queen- Buff Orpington - EE- silver laced wyandotte.
The is multi-colored with red, orange, silver, with blue, purple, and green irridescent feathers on his wings and tail. He is super mellow and very tame- so I'm happy to keep him. I'm going to be checking the eggs tomorrow when I make breakfast to see if they are fertile yet- uh...oh... you can see where my mind is headed.
