I didn't do that. At 10 to 14 days the combs really start to pop, so they're really easy to sex. My batch ran exactly half and half boys:girls.
I just got a dozen white eggs from TJ and a dozen brown from whole foods, curious to see how the hatching will go for each variety. The TJ ones are 4 days old and the WF ones are 8 days. currently they are setting to room temp, putting them in the bator tomorrow. Hopefully they will hatch!
Quick question about the LG still air incubator: I have mine set to 103, but it only goes to 102.5 or so. I put a thermometer on the bottom where the wire is and it reads at around 99. Is that too hot? Its my first time incubating so im pretty iffy about these things...
i see... thanks! makes more sense to me now.. people are always saying set ur temp higher for still air but i have no idea how to actually gauge if im getting the right temp for the eggs.. ideally the average is supposed to be 99.5 right?Add the top number to the bottom number and divide by 2.
Your average is a bit over100.75. That is slightly high but not as bad as being too low. Try lowering the temp slightly and see if the average goes down a bit more. Try for a bit under 100.
