Thanks for the info. Did yours come from a cream colored egg? My eggs were very white so I was hoping for white eggs....never thought I'd say that but I get most other colors from my girls.

Hy-line white hens lay white eggs. Hy-line brown roosters have brown egg genes. The eggs will be white but the chicks from the cross will lay mostly cream to light brown eggs.

A lot of eggs....

Of my 6 pullets from the New Years Day hatch, 2 lay a white egg and 4 lay a cream colored egg.

They are most likely hy-line brown roosters over hy-line white hens. They make something like austra whites.

Did yours come from white eggs? I see the Roo could have a cream egg. Not sure which is dominant...white or cream

brown is dominant so the two of mine that lay white eggs indicates that the brown is not complete for the brown egg laying line. There are about 9 different genes that make the brown coating. The pullets that lay white eggs must not have any of the brown coating genes.

They are very pretty eggs. I will work on getting a picture or two tomorrow.

1/2 of my Rock Island fertile eggs are developing, and 3 of the six fresh ones I put in. It has been really hot here thoughu the ones that didn't develop are watery. If your egg contents move around like water in a bottle it is no longer developing.

I have 2 broody hens. under one I put my own: 2 grey eggers, 1 EE and 3 brown probably cochin eggs. under the other one whole carton of rock Island fertile eggs.
Where did you get your Rock Island fertile eggs from? Oh you are in Eastern WA, that might explain it. I have seen Rock Island eggs here on the west coast as well but none labeled as 'fertile' to my knowledge.

The last thing I need is more chicks but sometimes I just cannot help myself!

Same here. The eggs were brought to the store on a Sun. I bought them on a Tues. I did check the dates and picked out a fresh one. Eggs are brown.
