My hatch is finished!

I set 45 out of 4 dozen--some where cracked. They are 2 dz. trader Joe's chick and 2 dz. Whole Foods Chicks.

37 made it to lockdown and 32 hatched!

Did all the chicks hatch out white? Even the whole foods chicks ? What color fertile eggs from your whole foods? Mine only sells brown fertile and my trader joes only sells white fertiles.

Some of the Trader joes chicks have spots on them and some have red. The Whole foods chicks are all white.

Most of them are white though.

WOW! So...I have to ask, where do you live and do you know how old the eggs were? That would be an unbelievable hatch rate using fresh, day old eggs from your own chickens! And from both Trader Joe's AND Whole Foods no less! What kind of incubator did you use? I'm SOOOO impressed!

The Whole foods eggs wee 7 days old and the Trader Joes eggs were 9 and 10 days old If I am remembering correctly.

I bought them in Davis and they are from Peteluma, which is about an hour and a half drive.

I incubated them in a Brinsea octagon 40 ex advance. I have the auto humidity pump and had it set for 40%. I used the cool down cycle from day 8 to day 19 and then hatched them in a Genesis 1588 at 65% humidity(humidity varies).

I had similar results last NYD htch a long when I hatched 17 Trader Joes chicks for 24 eggs. This hatch is a bit better because I only have the one weak chick and none of them have died.

Congratulations!!! You hatched a whole flock!!

Yes, those chicks are equal to what I have at my house now!

When I hatch these eggs I do not expect to get more that a couple per dozen--and then this happens!

This is the third time I have hatched Trader Joes eggs and the first time for Whole Foods. The first time I hatched out three from a dozen, then 17 from 22 set with two dead after hatch. This time 32 out of 45 set.

It cost me about $20.00 for the eggs this time too!
