Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

So are the hens good layers? My store has not had very fresh ones. The best has been about 20 days. Do you think that it would be a waste of $4 to try giving it a go?
I have seen posts about the eggs not being as fresh in other parts of the country.

The TJ's eggs I hatched were going on 15 days old and did very well. 20 may be pushing it though.

Have you kept any of the pullets? I hope they are at least good production girls.....
Yes!

I have 5 from last year. They are still laying eggs and started at about 20 weeks. They lay large to jumbo eggs--One of them laid an 80G egg last week! (That is Duck egg large).

You could always ask the helpful folks at Trader Joe's if they have anything fresher in the back. Some clerks will go see and others may give you flack, but it's worth the asking.

There is likely a Dairy Manage that may be able to order in some fresh eggs for you--or let you know when the eggs come in and hold some for you.

Can't say the staff in the local grocery stores around here go that extra mile. I called around to stores to find out who carried the fertilized eggs. When I drove the 12miles to that store, I got shown the pasteurized eggs! Pretty po'd. When I said that they specifically said they had fertile eggs, I got an apathetic shrug. The stop & Shop employees were better, but not able to tell when the next shipment would be

Does anyone that hatched Whole Foods eggs seen duck eggs at your stores? When I saw my WF had fertile eggs I saw they sold 6packs of duck eggs but don't remember if they were fertile or not, I only remember they came from a small family farm, or so the box said.
