Even on "Low" my crockpot can get things to boil eventually. Do you have a thermostat regulator on it? The whole concept is fascinating.

Some crock pots have just a high, or low setting... don't use that kind. Advise I read is you turn it on just so light comes on then turn back enough so light goes off. it is still on just barely test till temp gets to 102, 24 hrs. best for still air.
put wire on bottom so the eggs don't rest on pan,

I put it in a styro box because it is in a cold room.


pretty much it...wire is folded up a few times suspending eggs.

stick holds open just a crack for air.

My hatch is finished! I set 45 out of 4 dozen--some where cracked. They are 2 dz. trader Joe's chick and 2 dz. Whole Foods Chicks. 37 made it to lockdown and 32 hatched!

HELLLLOOOOO!!!!! We are aiming to set our shipped eggs (some from Northern California~ 2 days old, and another dozen coming from CT, at least 9 days old now... We are in Southern Cal) this Saturday, after receiving all of them tomorrow (Friday). For fun- I want to throw in some 'Vital Farms' eggs from Whole Foods (also can be found at other major supermarkets). I'm calling today to see if what they have is the freshest, or if 'newer' ones will arrive later today or tomorrow. How long should I set them out before putting them in the bator? TIA! Here's our lineup...

You use a brinsea advance, right? Do you start the cooling cycle right away? Or do you wait a bit?

Overnight is plenty of time.

I use the cool down cycle from day 8 to 18.
