Trader Joes & Other Grocery Store Egg Hatching Club - Are you a Member

I also bought some pasture raised eggs from whole foods, vital farms brand, and even though they were for eating, each time they were cracked open I checked for fertility. All infertile. I just don't think anybody includes roosters in their egg lines, pasture raised or otherwise.

The eggs I hatched last year from Whole Foods were from sonoma county, California and they were marked as fertile eggs. They hatched very well too--something like 16 out of 24.

California seems to have the most grocery stores that carry fertile eggs. None at all here

But that does give me tiny bit of hope!
 
what is the dating code again? i know it is the # of days into the year but where is is located? i think i know but want to be sure. i AM doing this year for sure ....TJ and SAFEWAY carry fertile local eggs here in sonoma county CA....
 
This is the most hysterical thread on BYC. I love it. So ingenious! Hee, hee! You guys crack me up. So successful. And wow! the number and size of eggs these hens lay! How old do they get before they burn out and have to retire?

Hi Karen!

My oldest TJ's are almost 2 years old and are still laying eggs. Some of them laid through molting this fall.
