You should do well--The flock is in your County so the eggs do not have to travel far.

Ron, how do they lay?

I have a son that lives near a store..so, he will go pick up some for me, if they have any that say fertile. Also, did you pay attention to the date on them?

Hope they have fertile eggs. No shipping this yr. if they do. I'll get three doz. to make sure. What?!

Morning Cynthia hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

My three lay pretty consistently. One to two white eggs so far every once and awhile they'll miss a day. I'm not running lights. They're 2 years old next month.

We did pay attention to the dates the second time. I was able to get eggs that were 4 days old. If you don't find fresh ones on the shelf ask if they have a shipment that hasn't been put out yet. Out of the 11 set ( I dropped one) 6 hatched. Two were roosters, and one chick escaped, never did find him.

The first batch of eggs we bought were ten days old. Nothing started from them.

I now have an offspring laying green eggs due to them being in with the CCL rooster at the time.

Oh wow, sound good pen..and how have you been..I'm having problems with that woozy head again..really bad this time. Hasn't been this bad in a while. Bummer, hoping it goes away by Christmas! I don't get out without having my hubbies arm to steady me. Not much the docs can do..soo, just waiting for it to be gone.
Thanksgiving was good though..was doing well then. Hope you are doing well.

All of the ones that I have seen are white. So, leghorn? I've heard that some folks have found brown fertile eggs. That would be good too.

They lay very well so far. I have some from TJ's that are almost 2 years old.

Whole foods sells the same thing but uses brown hy line pullets so the eggs are brown. The pullets hatches still lay a mix of whit to brown eggs though.

They are commercial layers so they are not strictly leghorn but look a lot like them.

I got a dozen Nature's Yoke eggs, but going by the calendar you guys are talking about, they were refrigerated 21 days ago. Are they even worth trying?

You can always try. If I had other eggs I was incubating I might throw one in just to see what happened.
Using my own eggs which were refrigerated immediately I have hatched large fowl eggs that have been in the refrigerator four days however I have not been able to hatch a bantam egg that was in the refrigerator at all. Only tried that once after I lost my young rooster accidently. But every now and then I have pulled a large fowl egg from the refrigerator, either I liked the color or wanted one of that breed and the mother didn't lay the day I was filling the incubator and with one exception they have all hatched.
Just wanted to add, if you have a health food store that sells (free range) fertile eggs, and many do, find out which days the eggs come in and buy yours then.
Also if you're in an area where rural people put out signs "fresh eggs for sale" you might be able to pick up some eggs there.

I'd skip it. Chances are high that even if a few developed the chicks would most likely have difficulty hatching, be weak and have "issues". Any that hatched would be more sad than miraculous.
