Pics
Well, I finally fell asleep with two eggs pipped. I woke up to one of those that pipped last night having hatched, and the other, not yet. AND the one I had messed with, the one I pulled out and candled TWICE after lockdown, 'cause I'm bad, pipped, zipped and was almost out when I woke up! Another one pipped in the night too. So, I have two chicks drying, 2 eggs pipped and 2 that haven't started yet this morning! I really really really hope all 6 hatch!

I started building the coop, and boy howdy, I don't have the energy I used to have! (well, and it was 96 degrees out) but I'm making progress (nothing special, winging it with materials I found in the garage, LOL. Still, it'll be nice and big, should be enough for 8 layers with a run. Lots to do now that the chicks are here!!!
congrats that is awesome

LOL, thanks everyone ;) 4 are out, one is zipping and one has not yet pipped. Not gonna give up on him for quite a while though. I remember on day 18, one seemed way behind the others in development, so the one that hasn't pipped may be one and the same. Hopefully I still have a chance that all 6 will hatch

Ok, here we go! I hope I can figure out how to put the pictures in here...

Here they are at about 1 pm today. You can see 3 hatched, one is zipping and 1 is pipping. The one on the top right is still not pipping though I checked on it a little while ago. it's head is in the air pocket and it's breathing, it still has some veins showing, so I think it's just small, and a bit behind?

They all wanted to learn to count and were very good students. This one informed me that the humidity was a bit low....

Here are a couple of fuzzybutts in the brooder. 5 hatched so far, I'm still hoping the last one will eventually join them??

OMG cuteness overload...White leghorns? I have one WL, her name is Zsa Zsa. She is the sweetest little girl ever. We had her sister, Ava, but she got some kind of growth on her neck at about 3 weeks old and we had to put her down.

I am sure you are already in love with them....hope they are all girls!!!!

OMG OMG OMG
yeah - OMG

so so so happy - hello little joe's!!! welcome to a world where are you already SO loved
congrats cluck!!!!

Well sadly the last egg died in the shell without having peeped. I could see it's face through the air sack and it no longer was breathing. Since I could no longer see blood, I carefully unwrapped it, but it was a goner. I can't help but think if I had just opened it up and gotten it out an hour before, it might have lived, but maybe it wouldn't have anyway. So 5 chicks out of an original 8 set. 1 was infertile, 1 died early on and 1 died at the end 5/8, so 62.5% OR if you don't count the infertile egg, 5/7 or 71.4% success rate! LOL. Well, if I could actually get that kind of success rate when I get back from vacation and order my serama eggs, I'd be soooo happy! (but of course those are very hard to hatch

But I will give it a try for certain!!!
