Traditional New Years meal

Quote:
lol, never heard of that up here..

We are having blackeyed peas cooked with a ham hock. We have it every year on New Years day - for good luck in the coming year. There must be a lot of people who eat blackeyed peas this time of year because it is difficult to find them in the grocery stores. I got the last 3 cans at the grocery store this week.

I never knew you were suppose to have a special meal on New Years Day.

LoRains Fids... me either. I have no clue what we're having for dinner. However now I feel under "some" pressure! Thnx peeps!

When I was stationed in North Carolina that was a similar meal that we would always have. Since I have been in AZ and spend the day with my inlaws; we have Mexican food (pretty much at all gatherings).

We do the southern traditional meal. Blackeyed peas with hamhocks, rice, cornbread, and collard greens. The cheese cake isn't traditional but who cares.
