Traditional New Years meal

We are having blackeyed peas cooked with a ham hock. We have it every year on New Years day - for good luck in the coming year. There must be a lot of people who eat blackeyed peas this time of year because it is difficult to find them in the grocery stores. I got the last 3 cans at the grocery store this week.

Pork loins slowly simmered in sauerkraut with mashed potatoes on the side. Yum!

we have either lasagna or longevity noodles

used to eat the blackeyed peas.. but my mother and I were the only ones who would touch them!

When I was stationed in North Carolina that was a similar meal that we would always have. Since I have been in AZ and spend the day with my inlaws; we have Mexican food (pretty much at all gatherings).

We do the southern traditional meal. Blackeyed peas with hamhocks, rice, cornbread, and collard greens. The cheese cake isn't traditional but who cares.
