Traditional New Years meal

We are gathering as neighbors today for blk eyed peas and more. We are unlikely friends of sorts and good comfort to each other. 7 households spread along 3 1/2 miles of unbelievable beauty and crazy, non-maintained road!! That is our connection together.I'm the only one w chickens-2 auracanas, 1 buff brahma, 3 Cornish ( dark and buff), 1leghorn hen and two Roos. Lost my lovely blk australorps.

We intended to do the ham and blackeyed peas and cornbread, but the other half of the holiday ham still isn't thawed.

My refrigerator sometimes has identity issues- at least it hasn't frozen the last of the eggnog (this time).

We have the same thing too! I wonder if it is Pa thing?

For sure a PA thing. I work with a Dr. from PA, and that's what he
was going to have. But his wife makes him cook it outside!

We did the usual "blues food" thing with black eyed peas, mustard greens, and sweet potatoes but I did do a little bit of a spin on it since I went to the big Asian market on Friday: Korean mustard greens (small, not curly, and very tender) and Korean yellow sweet potatoes (very sweet). Instead of PBR to wash it down I had Soju (made from yams). Wish I had cooked a ham but every one but me was burned out on it since we had one right before Xmas:cool:
