Tragedy related to nutrition?

We don’t give percentages because that is part of formula and is considered proprietary. I have attached a feed tag that list the ingredients. The ingredients go from largest amount to smallest amount. If you have questions, please let me know.

Was the tag she attached any more detailed than the usual one, or was it just the same thing?

She never attached any label, LOL. So I emailed her back asking about if Layena had soy or corn. She replied that it did (all it's products) have SOY.
So I emailed her back and asked if it had corn too.

I am being a PIA, but that's what you get when you're messing with thousands of people

BLUE was a smart brand dog food. They said sweet potatoes and salmon and there it was on the label. That's what my dog got.

Can't someone take the hint and make a chicken feed that has all the ingredients in it that we'd like to see? aside from Countryside.

Kinda vague aren't they? I have decided to get away from Purina products all together, I have to drive close to 45 -50 miles one way to get Countryside organics but thats what i will do. I have always fed starting with my ducks 8 years ago Purina Sun Fresh but don't believe its any better than the cheapest feed you can probably buy, and i am paying for the name. I feel also that they have a monopoly on most feed stores in my area anyway Which i don't feel is fair, but I am ready to try something different for my ducks and chickens and goose. Which can only benefit them in a positive way. And will make me feel alot better knowing i am feeding them the best stuff I can buy.

I don't think you're being a PIA -- you're just asking for a straight answer. They're acting like these are deep trade secrets you're asking about.

A few companies do; I stumbled across this one not long ago:

http://primequalityfeeds.com/feeds/poultry_cf_Laymaker.shtml
GENERAL COMPOSITION
Ground Corn, Soybean Meal, Corn Gluten Feed, Limestone Ground, Dried Distiller’s Grains, Wheat Middlings, Animal Protein Products (Pro-Pak), Dicalcium Phosphate, Roughage Products, Dehydrated Alfalfa Meal, Salt, Dry Fat, Vitamins and Minerals.

But most of the major feed companies do use least-cost formulation, where some of the ingredients vary depending on what's cheap that day. It's kind of like some some processed food for humans, where some of the ingredients are listed as "One of more of the following". I suspect most customers don't care all that much.

Vague? That's an understatement. It shouldn't be allowed. And PURINA knows that corn and soy are less popular than they used to be. So, hide them.

Clay, that label is explicit, but I wouldn't buy the feed!

Ah, but at least you'd know why you're not buying it!

I almost bought it... a hatchery near me started stocking it at a VERY good price. But that's about when I decided I'd had it with bagged feed in general.

Are you sure you have to go that far? Did you call the company and tell them where you live? The one drop point they gave me in Roanoke is closer than the Tractor Supply I went to to get Purina.

Amen. I think I should write her and say you can keep your percentages to yourself just list the grains and plant proteins etc in descending order please.

Do you know what the first ingredient in Purina Dog Chow is? Whole grain corn followed by poultry by product meal, the ever vague animal fat, corn gluten meal etc. Sounds yummy doesnt it?
