Transforming Metal Shed Into Coop?

My father in law has an old metal shed that's still in pretty good condition but he is upgrading to something bigger. It is 10'x8' and he has offered it to me for free. It would be placed inside the fenced run I'm currently building, which is 20'×11' and I would elevate this so it isn't lying on the ground. It looks very similar to this:

I'm thinking it would be a perfect coop for my 12 chicks...with some modifications of course.

If the answer is yes it can be used, here are some things that concern me and I have questions about, if I decide to use this.

1. Temperature. I live in Arkansas and it can get pretty hot but the spot I have picked out for whichever coop I decide to get is very shaded. I picked the spot because I didn't want the coop to get too hot and when the leaves fall off in the winter, the sun can shine through and provide some additional warmth. Speaking of winters, would I need to add some kind of insulation to the sides? Winters don't get terribly cold here but we can have a few days where it drops in the teens and below.

2. Ventilation. Definitely know I need it if this building is to be used as a coop. Any suggestions on where I could modify it to put venting?

3. Cleaning. Seems like a no brainer that it would be easier to clean. The floor is wood that has been coated with waterproof paint and the siding is metal currently

Those are my main concerns. Are there any others I should be aware of?

If this isn't a good idea for coop modification I guess just ignore my previous questions.

IMO, the main issues you'd have to deal with are ventilation and condensation of moisture when chicken-warmed air contacts cold metal.

Creating plenty of airflow and will help with the condensation problem too, but if moisture drips from the inside of the roof in cold weather you'll need to insulate -- not to preserve warmth since chickens are naturally equipped with warm, down coats but to prevent condensation.

So are you saying insulate the roof to prevent dripping or the roof and siding would all need to be insulated because of condensation.

Would you be against using the unit as a coop overall or do you think it can be done with the proper modifications?
