Transgender duck??

Dumb question, what if you gave a perfectly healthy "female" duck testosterone and a perfectly healthy "male" duck estrogen? Would the process be to cruel? Has something similar been tried? By a professional of course!
They still would not change sex. Same with people you can give a male estrogen and he may developed secondary gender traits, but he wpuld still have male anatomy and not develope female anatomy

Yes. We do get to make our choices. And you’re right. It’s a philosophical discussion that is probably not going to be worked out on a message board. Haha
I do like the way you think. 😉

But the sex changing of an animal if it occurs would not be a choice for them based on feelings. It would be a physical and/or environmental cause.

What is interesting to me about your statement is that is assumes that internal feelings are more real that physical biology and when the two are out of line with one another that it is the physical reality that should try to change rather than internal feelings. This is way bigger than the transgender debate—I’m not even talking about that, necessarily.

You would almost never hear someone say “born with the wrong feelings”. Legitimate question: why is that? Why have we elevated feelings over physical reality and made reality subject to our feelings? This is something I think about sometimes.
I really agree with you. Thank you.

I'm pretty sure she did, but just so she could smoke and flip quarters. That's what Ralphie told me 🤷‍♀️

No. We don’t. We can have a surgeon alter the outward appearances of our sex organs. But we never change sexes.

A persons DNA stays what it was at birth. A person might be able to fool themselves but they never fool Mother Nature.

Just because something is Politically Correct or in Vogue does not make it factually correct

I think you’re missing the point of the comment, and of the post, this is about duck gender questions, and the point you responded to was saying that animals have no choice, they do as nature dictates, whereas humans can choose their path because they are self aware. An animal won’t feel confusion, they will just do what they feel like doing this minute and don’t care how they used to feel or how they will feel later. Bringing in insultingly slung comments about political correctness has nothing to do with ducks. No matter where any of us stand on gender issues, human beliefs and motivations have nothing to do with an ill or injured duck changing genders. Many of us find this thread interesting and intriguing scientifically and bringing personal feelings about hot topics into it will only get it shut down.

WHAT IS THIS!!!! first off I agree with Shaw. 2nd is why was this duck laying then stop and moult and have a curled feather. Maybe you should separate he/she with a hen and see if you get fertile eggs. I don't know maybe you should give it a try

I am sorry you are confused. Let me be clear.

Except in the few lower animals born with both sets of female and male sex organs. No animal can change sexes.

this desire to have transgender birds is simply political correctness run amok.
