Good Morning! We moved our chickens (about 5 weeks old/already feathered) from the brooder to the coop 2 days ago. The first night, I placed them in the area of the coop that I could close off from the run part and they squawked like crazy! I did this to keep them secure from predators. They eventually calmed down and the next morning, I opened the door for them to have the freedom to use the run. The next night, was a bit easier. My question is: DO CHICKENS LEARN WHEN TO GO IN THE COOP ON THEIR OWN OR DO YOU HAVE TO TRAIN THEM? I let them out in the yard when I get home from work and let them free range for awhile while I watch them of course. They seem to really enjoy this. HOW OLD DO THEY HAVE TO BE TO LET THEM OUT UNATTENDED? Thank you! Margaret
