Mr.Rooster is still standing. He's going to be permanent decoration now. I was nice enough to turn his Christmas lights off at the beginning of April though.

I thought he could be lit up for Easter, and Mother's Day, and Father's day, and especially for July 4th! Actually there's a good event to celebrate every month...
And maybe later he can have friends up there too.

That's right, we did discuss marking all the holidays... I might turn him on for Mother's Day then, and especially for the 4th. The Christmas light chains going around the run are half dead by now, but that only makes this better. If I survive the summer without any more trouble from the neighbor, I'll get Mr.Rooster company for Christmas, to celebrate.

True. Though turning it on means I'd need to (remember to) drag a ladder out to the coop and climb it to plug the lights in... and most of the time I either don't remember to do it or can't be bothered to

Bury a 2x4 about a foot away from the post he is on and screw some 2x4s connecting the 2 making a permanent ladder up to him.

They certainly can't ban your use of patio umbrellas anywhere you want to use them. You're probably eventually going to have to get into legalities. Look at your State's constitution. In Michigan, townships only have to authority to regulate the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Just because the administrators "decide" not to allow something doesn't mean they have the authority, which comes from The People. If they can't show that what you're doing negatively impacts those areas they don't have the authority. It takes a strong showing in court, and probably appeals court, because local governments everywhere are composed of neurotic city dwellers.

You may want to mention something about suing for harassment. If he thinks he might lose a significant amount of money, he'll probably back off.
