I am going to get a few chicks from a family member, but the problem is the trip could take up to 6 hours. What is the best way to keep the chicks warm?

You could get a small box plus put bedding and hand warmer in their for them, just an idea, never did this myself

That sounds like a decent idea. Thanks.

Any other ideas out there?

When I take babies to swaps and it's cold I just use a towel with hand warmer/heat pack under it. Have had no problems doing it this way.

Keep the car a bit warmer than you are personally comfortable. I'd prepare to travel with light, summer type clothes on and have the heat on pretty good. The chicks will be just fine. Lots of folks buy chicks at feed stores and have a drive of over an hour or two.
