transporting chickens

I have 10 ten week old chickens. In a couple of weeks I'll need to transport them about 160 miles...a three hour trip. What's the best way of doing this? I've got a Honda Civic...not a truck. Any ideas? What kind of shipping crates can I use? Do they need food and water during the trip?

A dog crate wit a towel to prevent sliding & leg injuries. You could probably do without the food, but they should have water available. If you can drive at night, you may prevent yourself from going insane from the non-stop peeping.
