Trapping weasel help, please!*IT CAME BACK!**

Thanks for this thread. We had one show up a couple of days ago, just fearless as can be. So far we're "Weasel 1, Humans 0" but DH and I just saved a second hen from being killed. Turns out the blasted thing is living in our woodpile!

We had baited a trap with canned cat food (chicken flavor) and now another with the dead hen and wrapped the trap in a black trash bag after reading everyone's suggestions. We have our fingers crossed. I opened the tractor which it dug its way under now that the ground is thawing. It looked up from biting my hen's neck and just stared at me. I had to actually get a shovel and whang on the tractor to get it out. We cornered it and DH almost had it but it slipped by us. Monstrous creature.

My hens from that tractor are in the basement now and the attacked hen has a couple of bites on her neck but otherwise seems OK.

Let us know how you guys do.

I think I may have had one last fall wondering around but it got spooked by the outside cats I think and there was a heavy musky scent in the air.

I never saw it but I smelled it, heard it get scared, and saw the cats looking in a downward direction and not scared at all.

Hope you are able to trap it.

hugs,

our next plan is have hubby waiting in the coop with the pop door open to let it sneak in...and whack it with a shovel when it comes through the pop door..
