After an unfortunate experience yesterday, I recommend you keep a spare leash or two in your vehicle if you travel anywhere with your dogs, cats, chickens, goats. Even just down the road to the store. I went to pick up my kids from school and run to the bank yesterday. I took one of my dogs, and we had to make an emergency stop when we smelled burning wires in the van.

Fortunately, I had my puppy's "tie in" leash in the van to leash Reno. He wans't wearing a collar, so I had to loop the leash around his neck. We were lucky it was mellow Reno and not the hyper puppy. Everything turned out okay after the fire dept checked out the van. It needs to see a mechanic, but at least we got home.

You never know when stuff like this will happen, so throw a couple of leashes in your glove box!

glad you are ok. I keep extra leashes in their for strays also.

The leashes come in handy for all sorts of things. I've used them as horse leads when I found a couple of them loose on the road, and I've tied up a dangling muffler! You never know what wil happen around here.

I usually have two leashes, a couple tie-out stakes, water/food bowls, and treats. All of that is in my mushing backpack that I always have in my car. Comes in handy when we manage to catch a stray dog...
