Treating Icy Walkways with Free-range hens

Sand if you have it. I also use sawdust, of which I have more.

No one was laughing at the situation, we have the same problem here. And you're right, you can't use that chemical stuff. You gotta use sand.

My birds never get that far from the coop with snow on the ground so I never thought of it. BTW, when I read the title, I had visions of bird poop as a de-icer.
