Tree Struck by Lightning!!!

[Critter Crazy]

We just had a huge Thunderstorm!! One of the trees in our Horse pasture got struck by lightning!! What a ruckous that made! I went out after the storm and took some pics! Amazing!

Next are the Pieces of the tree, that scattered across the pasture.

This last piece flew at least 75 feet, landed in the trees,a nd was at least 12-15feet long!

The Scarriest thing about the whole Ordeal, was I was just about to go outside when It happened! I had the door open, and was just stepping out when the Lightning struck! I was trying to go and fix the Chicken coop door, which had been blown shut, and all the poor chickens were getting drenched trying to get in. Needless to say I waited a bit before chancing it!

Scary!! We had a huge thunderstorm today as well. First one of the year. Glad no one or nothing was hurt.

Back in 2001 Houston got hit by TS Alison. We lived in Baytown at the time. My BIL was living with us at the time. He and I were sitting outside in a small rain storm in aluminun chairs. Lightening struck a tree 3 doors down and I knocked him on his butt running into the house with the dog!

Critter Crazy, glad you didn't get hurt and your chickens are okay also. Isn't Mother Nature awesome?

wow how scarey for you all, glad everyone is okay.........I couldn't help but notice how tall those trees were, I would love to have some here in okietown.........I am sick of oak trees.......... send me one please

Angie n Maine, first thunderstom wow. Seems like we've had a 100 here already. I think the lightening is the worst here and we get it all. Wind, hail, tornado's ect. Lightening is the scariest. But can be very beautiful. Mother Nature is Awsome.
