Oh that's funny Aurora! Pebbles is one tough moma bird! They can be so dramatic!!

Finnie...your right about last years molt. Mine molted earlier than normal by almost two months. Chickens too. Then we had one of the coldest winters recorded down here. The year before they didn't molt till December & we barely had any cold weather. I remember keeping tabs on others folks bird's molts just out of curiosity . So now I'm convinced our birds should be long range forecasters for the Weather Channel. Our birds are more accurate than that rodent who gets all that press for predicting the weather.

Speaking of weather....I'm sure y'all are sick of my whining ....but this heat is wearing on me, the dogs, & my birds. And why in the midst of all this extreme heat Annie decided she wants to be a lapper is beyond me. Daisy is currently laying an early evening egg. As soon as she hits the nest box, Annie has been wanting to sit in my lap. She's never been one to take a lap nap. She doesn't mind being picked up or petted....but never would settle down in a lap. I'll never understand these guys.

Boy did we have a nasty storm blow up out of nowhere yesterday evening! I ran out & got the chickens cooped but the lightning was scaring me. Didn't get the turkeys cooped before I ran back to the house. Lots of rain, wind, thunder, lightning. Finally calmed down enough for me to go see where the turkeys ended up. I was hoping they cooped themselves....but no....they were perched on the back of a bench, way out in the yard. So in the pouring rain, I grabbed one after another & made a break for their coop. They were soggy messes. And fussing the whole time. Not happy. I felt sorry they got left out in such a bad storm...but really girls...could you not have put yourselves to bed??
