Peeked into the coop early this morning. Girls all still asleep. Found Iris roosting between Blossom & Marigold. I think Iris is thrilled to have friends her age. Daisy is more like mom. The three young girls are hanging out together while Daisy just keeps an eye on the hijinks.

I'm stir crazy. After two days the rain is just now stopping. Did spend time with the ladies. You could tell they wanted to go explore. But I need to keep an eye on them. I'm not trusting them just yet. So I got a lot of stink eye. Hopefully tomorrow.

We rarely get snow here. More likely to get ice. But I find the occasional snow beautiful. Of course it's gone in a day. Its impossible to drive, since we have no snow removal capabilities, so I just stay at home & enjoy it. Schools are canceled just on the threat of a flake falling....so we have the neighborhood kids running wild.

Ice....the worst! Here 1/2 an inch & the city turns upside down. Cold for us is anything under 40. I remember some really big snows in St. Louis when I was a kid. I have a picture of my 6'-4" dad standing hip deep in snow. I went to school with nuns. Since the convent was next door they never closed the school. It was my dad's mission to get us there! He loved it....we just wanted to stay home!

It stopped raining. Opened the turkeys coop door this morning to let them out & almost got run over! They all came barrelling out yapping their beaks off! Flapping the whole time.

Yes R2elk....I was in a girls school with nuns for 12 years. It was fine. Oddly the biggest issue I had when I got to college was trying to figure out what to wear each day. After 12 years of our uniforms....I was unprepared! I also think there is something to not having boys around. I think we focused more on studies instead of worrying about boys.

Well Blossom is a piggy! Just refilled the feeder & she hogged it. I grabbed her, stuck her under my arm & took a walk to let the others eat. Boy did she complain! But no real struggling. I think she was enjoying the tour. She seemed interested in all the stuff I was messing with. I was just looking at some of the smaller trees to see what to trim back now that it's getting cool. She was especially interested in the Calycanthus for some reason. I did hand her a sunflower seed occasionally.

All the girls are doing fine. I've let them out during breaks in the rain. Found skinny Iris standing in my driveway crying. I guess she hopped the fence. Daisy was on my back porch making a ton of noise. She snitched on Iris. The other two were in the dog yard. I've been keeping them in my yard, I guess they flew over the fence. So, bottom line, they are hopping all over the place! Then they stand there crying. Sigh....
