Hi Feathyr! Oh please post pics! We love them. Sorry about you tom. Ralph is right. They can look horrendous. Clean well, spray & return to flock. Turkeys are fine with cold weather. Or buy him a diaper & make him a house turkey! :D

Ralph, admittedly JJ is amazing. Maybe you separate a few hens out for Sidekick & Penguin too. Could even get more interesting. And don't forget Ginger. Barred feathers are the ones with horizontal stripping.

Well, I don't have time to read everything right now. Just wanted to let you all know the pathology report on that chicken.
Mareks.
****** great. She was one of two who were from a small farm north of me, guaranteed to be vaccinated. Quarantined, but mareks doesn't show up in 2 weeks.
DH wants to cull and wait a couple years. I'm crying in my beer.

Oh man. That's sucks. I don't even know what to say. I'd be devastated. I'm so sorry. Will that affect the turkeys too? I don't know if they can even get it.

Feathyr...good articles. Thanks.

MM...put down the beer & read Feathyr's post. It's hopeful!

Chaos. ..really? Remember I caught one turkey in rush hour traffic & ran the other down in a field of pigs. Neither were particularly thrilled with me at first either. But now are both lap turkeys. Their are both as friendly as can be. Ralph pulled JJ & Ethel out from under a house. Look how great they turned out. Bottom line, all is not lost. Look at Aurora & Adam! T-bone too can be your buddy & main source of poop on your deck! :D. If interested in cultivating a turkey buddy...I'm sure Ralphie has a class you can sign up for.

Fiesty! More pens is the solution to all of our problems!

Feathyr...here is my Bourbon Red lap turkey Annie.

If I remember T-bone is a Sweetgrass. Aurora & I took the same approach. We both just spent close one on one time with said turkeys. I think we both just sat in their pens working on our laptops occasionally giving them treats. So Chaos. ..when you get your new birds, get a chair & hang out with them! They will be pooping on your deck in no time!

MM...read Feathyr's post and Ralph has a contact for you. DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR CHICKENS!

I like tolerant turkey!

My DW and I are always wishing we knew what Ethel was talking about, She goes on and on and cocks here head and gives us the eye the whole time she is talking, It is so funny, hence the term "old Biddy"..

I really like tolerant.

I posted the picture of my turkey on Porters FB page. Kevin Porter himself answered me! He says it is a Rusty Lavender and not a Lilac. He does not have a picture of one of them and asked if he could use my picture on his site! I am so honored by that. Now I need to run the calculator to determine the guys fate.
OMG Ralphie! You made the Porters site!! :bow. I'm in awe! Maybe that's what Ethel has been trying to tell you....how special she & her babies are!! Rusty Lavender. Wow!

Aurora...did you recover from the 10 hours of shopping? It still cracks me up thinking of Adam stuck on strut!

Ralph...what a week! Finding that artifact AND making the Porter site!

Ok...so far we have:

Lap Turkey = those who seek out laps & snuggles.
Tolerant Turkey = those that are friendly and will tolerate handling.

How about "Lurky Turkey" for those that hang out but can't be handled.

That would give us three classifications. I think most of our birds would fall into one of these categories. One more class of turkey. Belly Button. I love Ralph's term! For any bird who misbehaving, is a jerk, or want nothing to do with humans.

Feisty. ..I'm sorry. I've been there too. Never a good thing, especially at the holidays.

Deheltzel...you may want to post over in the "Emergencys " thread. There is a whole group of folks there that can recommend the right antibiotics and the dosage. They will ask you what their poop looks like, how much they weight and possibly pictures.

Ralph...you & Mr. Porter are getting to be buds! :D. Your going to end up with the whole calico flock on his site! So cool he's helping identify some of your guys. CORRECTLY! Better than one of my wild guesses.

So...we got the Lappers (I shortened it), the Tolerants, the Belly Buttons, now we have to add the "Incredibles".... for Ralph ' s calico flock that will end up all over the Porter site.

Holm, your flock is gorgeous. Send me that sweetgrass /calico tom!!!!

Feathyr...Glad your tom is doing better. Where are the pictures??
