I've been training the coonhound with a group in north Mississippi. This will be his first sanctioned hunt. It's up in Missouri. To be honest, this dog is pretty quiet around the house. Sometimes he'll bay if he's playing. He isn't an alarm dog. Someone could walk in & he wouldn't say much. Quiet in his crate while traveling. But he's quite vocal when on a trail or tree. Guess that's his instinct. He's actually an easy dog to live with. I just worry about him getting loose. If he gets his nose into something he won't pay much attention to me.

Or...have Aurora make you a fur saddle & maybe your husband won't notice hes not a dog. I love my turkeys hanging out! They follow me everywhere.

I'm in Missouri. At the coonhound show site. Registration starts at 5. Hunting at 8. Nice weather. Little chilly. Muddy from rain. I'm nervous having never done this before. My coonhound is sleeping. He was all cranked to be with like kind! Happy to see other dogs with big ears! Lots of different coonhounds here. My dog fell in love with a cutie Redbone. She seemed smitten too. Fun to talk about dogs with these guys. They are very helpful with novice folks. Most of them actually hunt beside these events where they just spot raccoons. So lots of gun talk that goes over my head. Wish us luck. I'm just hoping I can stumble through the woods at night without breaking something!!

Well...we didn't embarrass ourselves and I didn't break anything or get lost in the woods. They were teasing me & thought they should put the GPS tracker on me instead of the dog. My coonhound did well. He ranked 5th of 17 dogs competing!!!! I was amazed. He didn't run after a deer or show up with a possum in his mouth. He earned a little credibility. Was expecting him to be up wanting breakfast & to take his morning constitutional. But he is DEAD to the world. It was a long day for him! Poor boy! He was in his element and made the most of it. He got points toward his hunting title. So now off to the aussie show...
