Ok...this may seal the deal! My mottled has miniature caruncles!! And his head is consistently redder than the penciled. The penciled has a lovely pinkish cast to her head & neck. The mottled's head & neck are much redder. PLUS...the penciled barely has any snood or waddle development. The mottled is MUCH more developed.

Keeping within my flower theme for turkey names....I was thinking of Iris for the penciled. Or maybe Violet. Stumped on the mottled...if truly a male... was thinking of Poppy ( Pops for short) Or Cosmos. Open for suggestions....

Good ones Cindy. I'm still not convinced hes a tom....but it sure seems so. I'm going to get pictures this weekend. Still NO displaying. The only explanation I have for no displaying is Daisy. She probably told him to keep his tail down or I might rehome him!!

Sooo....was sitting with the poults. Took Iris out of the pen and wandered through the garden with her. Spending some one on one time. Billy Bob Tom was raising the roof! And I "think" I heard the beginning of a gobble! Put Iris back & grabbed him for a walk about the garden. Iris never said a word! No screaming from her....just "him". I'm convinced Iris is a girl. She looks & acts like one. (Like I know what I'm talking about!) I'm just about convinced the mottled is a boy. All based upon close observation and a gut feeling! LOL!

She was several weeks old when I picked her up at the end of May. I've always felt she was a hen. Totally based upon a gut feeling, and of course observation. She's a girlie girl too! And a real sweetie. I'm happy with her. I'll get a shot of Billy Bob Tom this weekend. He's younger. The breeder knew I really wanted a tri mottled and plucked him from a different batch of poults. He was quite a bit smaller when I got them. Now he's turning into a hunk.
