Speaking of SS. They ignore the poults unless they think they've found something to eat. Both poults were trying out one of Daisy's dust craters. The SS descend upon them & took over the crater. Both poults ended up standing there with puzzled looks on their faces. Poor guys! The SS play them!

Didn't know you had Orps. Titan is amazing! I opted for the bred down Australian version...Australorps. They are cool birds too! But the SS is still my favorite. They don't lay a huge egg, probably med/large, but my old girl laid until she was almost 9.
And I love my turkeys BEST!

Iris met some of the neighbors yesterday. Had her tucked under my arm, lapper training, and two of the gals showed up in the backyard demanding to meet the poults! Iris fanned her tail out the whole time she was being petted & fussed over but seemed interested in them. Of course they were blown away by her markings. She got a lot of petting and seemed to decide it was all ok. Guess it's time to invite neighbors over for poult parties. At first I discouraged visitors, wanting them to get comfortable with their new digs. But now....time for socialization!

Nice selection of bug eyed babies! That will be a colorful bunch. I'm jealous. Wish I was closer to some of y'all....but on the flip side...it could be detrimental! So many beautiful varieties...so little time!

I'm trying hard to maintain a small flock of nuns. I want to be able to enjoy time with each one. If I had a large flock I'd be overwhelmed!!

15!! Wow! Good for you! That will be a gorgeous flock. I'd be in the same position....I'd keep stashing as many as someone would hand me! I can't be trusted around poults. It's those sweet faces!!

Speaking of sweet faces.... I think Daisy is trying to talk the poults into walking around to the front yard with us. They are a bit unsure. She'll try, but then just shrugs & follows me. It's her social hour. And the grazing is good.

Daisy went to the birthday party today! A good time was had by all! They had a nice chunk of watermelon for her. There were several kids there that had never met a turkey. They loved her! The dad said it was more fun having Daisy than the clown they hired last year. We stayed about 20 minutes. The littlest kid started crying when we were leaving. None of the kids wanted her to go. She rode on my lap in the golf cart. She loved it! She wants one!

Funny how one big blue bird can captivate the kids & adults alike. Wish kids could spend more time outdoors instead of in front of their video games. I think I told you, Daisy's regular gang of kids all want turkeys instead of puppies. Maybe there is hope for turkey lovers in the future generations!!

Ok....I have 6 chickens, four of which are senior citizens. And the three turkeys...Daisy and the two poults. And how do I keep my numbers down? They live in a convent!! LOL

If I hatched turkeys I'd need an intervention! Instead of the "Crazy Cay Lady"... I'd end up being the "Crazy Tutkey Lady". Can you just see me taking a flock on a nightly walk?
