So....my little girls are starting to follow me as I garden in the back. Oh goodie! More helpers! They are starting to be more curious about things than cautious. And I noticed when they get startled by something they run to me. Lapper training starting to pay off. They are super easy to put to bed. They've caught on to the routine. When I start walking behind them, they march right into the pen. Turkey temperament just fascinates me. Its been so interesting watching these babies as they mature.

Oh....and they are so pretty. Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder after all! Skinny Iris has the sweetest face. Poppy is getting huge! Her spots are really coming in! They are beautiful to me, even if my sitter thinks Poppy is God awful ugly. My sister thinks they look prehistoric. Sigh.....

The coonhound got another possum last night. Let him out for a quick constitutional before bed. He was taking longer than usual. Then I heard a monotonous bark, bark, bark. He killed a possum. Was just standing out in the yard barking toward the house. As soon as I went out & saw the possum he was off sniffing & hunting through the yard. Dispatching a dead possum in pajamas is always a good look. It was huge. And I thought he had cleaned them all out. He hasn't gotten one in ages. Thought it was interesting that he stood over it until he was sure I located it.

And skinny Iris has started to run to the pen door when she sees me. Poppy wanders over, but Iris runs & flaps. I know shes anxious to get out, but it's kind of cute anyway. I have also noticed a turkey will look you in the eye. Either when I'm talking to them or when they are trying to communicate something. Have you all noticed the same thing? Direct eye contact with animals can mean different things. Some good, some not so good. Just curious if your birds make eye contact....
