This whole notion that "city slickers" are a bunch of naive morons who don't know jack about anything important and the fact that it's always brought up on this site as the butt of your jokes really irritates me. Sometimes it seems like it's all in good fun but most of the time it takes on a snarky, occassionally borderline cruel, holier than thou attitude. I feel like if the "city slickers" started creating threads ridiculing the country folk and their way of life it probably wouldn't be taken as lighthearted or funny and would probably end up locked pretty quickly.

If a thread gets shut down because someone pointed out that kindness has long been considered something we humans should strive for, and that this has been valued in many places around the world for millennia, then so be it. I'll take the responsibility for that.
I was not promoting or supporting any particular religious belief. I was merely illustrating that kindness has been thought to be important in much of the world for a long time.
I fail to see that trying to "play someone the fool" is a kindness.

I'm not taking sides. But please keep in mind that if you read a post you find offensive, click on the report button rather than starting a public argument. The moderators on this site are on the ball.
This is a thread about jokes on city slickers, not a I'm too good for that thread. If you don't like the thread.....GO AWAY & start your own thread about Why you should be as good as me & city slickers! Now........ you can close the thread.... I've said my piece.
Hmmm. Had this been a thread about how to make fun of country bumpkins, or rednecks, I'm sure it would have been reported a hundred times pretty quickly.
How is it any different to make fun of people who don't know country ways because they grew up in the city? How is it any different to make fun of people for characteristics they may have as a result of living in a rural area?
It's not a matter of being too good for a thread. The 76+ page thread on funny things people say is one thing. People say things & sometimes it's amusing. I could share a few hundred of those, myself. However, it's another to go out and intentionally play tricks on people because you know they lack knowledge about a topic. There's a difference between anonymously sharing a humorous comment and intentionally trying to make someone feel bad about him or herself.
