Tried cornish rocks. Looking for another meat bird.

I harvested 6 of the roosters in my batch of FR's. 10 weeks old the average was in between 6 and 6.5 lbs dressed. the hens are probably at around 5 lbs right now i am going to let them grow out a little more.

and we BBQ'd some of the wings last night and they were excellent.

8. Some of us actually like chickens and don't mind having them around.

3. How so? Because you can breed other breeds? Many people who are raising FR and other breeds still order their chicks.
4. How is it more humane? My Xs last year free ranged right along side my layers. They ran around, ate bugs, took dirt baths, etc. And you still have to process other breeds too. None of my Xs overgrew their frame. None of htem went lame. All of them could walk and run when it came time to process them at 9 weeks.
5. So where do the other breed chicks come from? Don't those eggs get shipped to hatcheries from other farms? Or are you saying those breeds parents are all free-ranging and on small farms?
6. Same as 5.
7. How are they healthier? Mine arrived to me at 2 days old. They never get medicated feed, they run around and free range (see number 4). I lost 1 bird from last year's batch. Mine were very healthy until they day they got processed.
8. I enjoy birds too. In fact, I have a flock of layers year round and love having them around. However, I don't enjoy paying money out of pocket for meat birds longer than I have to, especially when I can get more meat per bird from a X than from a FR. I'm not doing this for a hobby.
