Trimming rooster spurs

Maybe someone despured him before you got him? If cut off completely like my grandfather did, they take months to go back.

That is a young bird. By the looks I am guessing less than a year old. Nice looking bird though.

Could his age have something to do with him not having spurs? Not that I want him to have them, we can live without them. I am just curious. thanks
