I need to give my "wish list" to my friend before he leaves and I just want to make sure I ask for the good stuff...

Quote:
He can get the Corid 9.6% liquid solution or the Corid 20% soluable powder.
Sulmet is used to treat 2 types of cocci, fowl cholera, coryza and pullorum salmonella. It comes in a liquid and powder form.
Terramycin eye ointment is an antibiotic for the eyes for bacterial infections.
Safeguard, levimisole or valbazen will take care of gapeworms.
Consider purchasing poultry nutri drench, it's loaded with vitamins and minerals.
Penicillin G Procaine injectable is advisable as well. Good luck!

Thanks gawd53!

Can't wait to get all that stuff! I think I'm gonna be less stressout about the girls knowing that I can act fast!

What kind of sirynges do you recommend?

Thanks again!

Am I the only person that doesn't have all that stuff. If you don't use the antibodics don't they go bad. I have never had (knock on wood) had any of these problems that I has to have more medications then for a human. I don't even carry anything for my dogs and cats. I guess if you start with healthy chicks, you shouldn't run into these problems right?

Yup. I had to subscribe because even though I haven't had any problems yet

I want to get a first aid kit going before spring hits...
There was a thread somewhere showing a whole list, including pictures, of what a good chicken first aid kit should contain....

Let's see....

Well I can't find the one I wanted but here's a good shortened version:

I keep almost nothing on hand. I can understand for a person that lives in a country where it's not available without going to a vet, why they might want a few things.

For everyone else, really, unless you live 6 hours away from a store, I wouldn't bother with buying a big list of things you'll probably never need. When I was young I bought a bunch of stuff that I was advised to keep on hand and it eventually just ended up in the trash. It's so easy to stop at a store most places and get what you need, if you ever do need it.

These are the things I suggest:

Corid or Sulmet
Ivermectin pour on for cattle (You can also use wood ashes for mites/lice, it's works quite well) I use this for worming, you can also use Wazine but it doesn't get all the worms!
VetRx
Blood Stop
Pro-biotic paste
Save a Chick
Multivitamin from Foy's Pigeons (OR~ TSC carries an electrolyte/vitamin combo)

If you want an antibiotic I would suggest one of the following:

Tylan50 (injectable) OR Tylan50 (water soluable) TSC does not carry the water soluble though.
Lincomycin/Spectinomycin (water soluble) ( You can not get this at TSC)
Duramycin10
