My 23 week old Mottled Houdan left this for us today. This is her second (third & fourth) egg. Her first egg was bumpy all over & she left it in the dirt. At least this time she layed in a nesting box. We have a RI Red the same age who’s been laying nice brown (smallish) eggs for 2 weeks.

I'd bet she will be laying normal eggs in a week.
Are you feeding a lot of treats?
If so stop.

She did it again today- 6 days later. Three tough membranes & albumen, one yolk in the innermost membrane. The other hen (same age) is laying eggs daily and they’re perfect. The first egg this hen laid was hard shelled and normal, except for a few calcium bumps. But these 2nd & 3rd attempts have me a little concerned. I apologize if these are gross. I’m a former vet tech so I don’t even think about it.
