I love to raise live bearers, swords, platy's, guppies and mollys. That is what I'm doing presently, but love all tropicals freshwater. Haven't tried saltwater yet.

I have a 55 gallon tank with about 15 fish in it. I can't seem to get my ph up. I add and add but it's still low. I put an ad on Craigslist to sell it but no one wants it. I do have a shark that’s about 6 inches. It was only about one inch when I got it. And an Algae eater almost 8 inches he's really nice looking. I would like to try the salt water but can't get rid of my tropical fish. I surprised at how long they have been living. I even moved and took them with me and they made it ok. Tuff fish.

I've got a 37 gallon tank. I'm having some similar PH issues ginbart. If you haven't done so already, try a partial water change.

I have all Tetra type fish. Neons, glowlights, rasboras (sp?), etc... I do have some cute little cherry shrimp that are very hard to spot in the tank! It's fun when we can actually see one! I also love live plants. That's all I have in there are live plants.

I paid about 2 grand for a saltwater set up, then got the fish disease ICK, which killed about $300 in fish, So I sold the whole thing for $250 because I was so mad!!! LOL....

I've got a 75 gallon tank set up with several fish in it.. I used to run a DIY above tank filter when I kept Koi in it but changed to store bought ones after I gave them up @ 16" long each.

Right now the biggest I have is a 14" Pleco.

Those with PH issues.. What is in your tank substrate wise as well as larger rocks.

Also test your tap water, see what it's running at.

Heck.. I don't even pay attention to my PH anymore... I go 2-3 months between filter cleanings.. It's all balanced.. Just have to top it off from time to time.

I have tropicals! I bought a little ten gallon tank back in January and started with just a betta. I let it run for about six weeks and then added two platies. Over the course of a month or so, I slowly added the rest of my fish. I now have a betta, four platies, and three albino cory cats. They are all still pretty small and I may need to eventually upgrade my tank to a larger one, but for now they are all happy and healthy! I did lose one platy half way through, but was able to replace him and haven't lost another since.

I currently have what I think are three females and one male, but I haven't had any babies yet. I have a feeling that if I do, my betta will eat them before I get a chance to see!

I took some pics the other day, but haven't uploaded them yet!

I have 3 aquariums,

1 (30 gal) with 5 african cichlids, 2 yellow 1 blue and an 1 orange.
1 (10 gal) with a few plattys
1 (10 gal) with a rainbow, and 3 danios...

I've had just about all the tropical fish at one time or another.. Love aquariums they are so peaceful to watch..

I used to breed live bearers and sell them back to my local pet store. That was years ago. I miss having a tank but that will have to wait till other things get bought first and built like coop for chickens.

Year before last, at the beginning of spring I put 2 Plecostamus (sp?) in my outside koi/goldfish pond. They were about 4 " each or so, they did not survive the cold water in the winter though and floated to the top dead but they had each grown to at least the 14" size, they were enormous, shocked me how those things grew that fast and big!! But yes, water is an importnat issue in my pond too, it costs me to add water because I have to use an entire bottle of dechlorinator everytime I add it. I use the type with aloe in it because the flourine is harsh too..they put so much junk in our water that we have no say so about but is very harsh to fish, that's good advice to be careful. A good aerator is another good thing to have, I bought a big diffuser to keep my o2 levels good in the pond, it runs continuosly..there needs will be similar from pond to tank. I have some of the most brilliant orange goldfish that are all about 5 - 8 inches long and 3 of the 12 koi I have are about 3 pounds now..huge! A healthy environment will make them grow and their colors be beautiful! Good luck with ya'lls fish adventures, I love mine!!

I had pirahana for awhile but it died after about 2/3 yrs and haven't gone back into the tropicals again since then.. Now I have a salt water but lost $500 in fish to bristle worms and had to kill the entire reef structure I had made. Now all thats left is one lonely hermit crab, but hope to get it back up again soon.
