Trouble with pippers and partly hatched chicks

2 of my bantam eggs are chirping and look as tho they have internally pipped. When should I help them? I wish I could get a video from my phone on here but I don't think i can. Here is a pic of the one that was chirping loud. Should I break the shell or do you think it can do it on its own?

It takes up to 6 hours for a chick to pip through the shell after pipping internally, so don't rush to help just yet. If it's pipped internally it's making progress and that is good! It's thinking about hatching finally :) Sit on your hands

So I should probably turn the others before they get thru the shell so they don't get shrink wrapped? My first hatch I had the 2nd egg shrink wrap because I kept opening the bator to help a chick with spraddle leg. I hope my hatch rate is better than my first!!

It would be better if you turn the others quick before this one pips through the shell yes. Good thinking!

It has started to pip, and I brought over my loudest chick and she started crying and I could hear the egg chirping loudly! The waiting is the hardest part!

Hearing the other chick will encourage her for sure! Waiting for a chick to hatch is hard. It's best to stay busy with things and just check on the progress every now and then. Like every 5 minutes

Thats what I am doing, and I have so much to do!! I have the humidity up to 68 and there is so much condensation on the window that I can't see the egg, hearing it is very reassuring right now for sure! I have a messy house to clean so that should help me.

So my only successful hatch rocked and rolled once it pipped, but my second pip from that batch never rolled around only made a small hole and then shrink wrapped. This egg that has pipped hasn't been rolling or rocking that I can tell. What is a good indicator that I should help? I'd rather not help but would hate to loose it. . . .

It's very difficult to decide when you should help. I wait at least 12 hours after external pip and after that I watch the egg. I make the pip hole bigger if needed and I watch that little beak. As long as it's moving I know the chick's o.k. Put off helping as long as possible and keep the humidity in the incubator high 60%+ so the chick doesn't dry out in the shell.

I'm off to bed now and I'm hoping when I log on tomorrow I will see you got a chick and all went well. But in case you get to point where you feel you should help, a friend of mine put together a great article on assisted hatches that will guide you through the process:

Best of luck and

Ok Good night! So far its just a tiny crack in the shell so I don't see beak but still hear chirps. I will wait till tomorrow. The humidity is 70 so it should be good, thank you so much!
