Troubled chick

This isn't the first time that we've had chicks but just earlier today one of my chicks starting chirping very loudly and looked like it was having troubles while pooping, their behavior is normal other than that.
Their vent seems a bit red and swollen compared to the rest and I'm not sure what to do.

Welcome to BYC. Do you have a picture? How old are the chicks? If they came in the mail or from a feed store, they are probably suffering from pasty butt or constipation. Clean them off with warm soapy water, rinse, and dry well with a tissue. Try not to chill them. Take a Qtip and apply a drop of olive oil or vaseline to the vent opening. Make sure that your brooder temperature is not too hot, and they have a cooler place to get to if they are hot.

We got the chicks from our home and ranch store murdochs so I'm not quite sure how old they are.
